Giesse – SMART CHIC
Functions
Smart C.H.I.C. is an automation system for aluminium tilt-and-turn windows, based on an actuator that is fully integrated into the profile. The motor, which is extremely compact (17×25 mm), houses the drive mechanism, electronics and gears within a single module that can be installed even in slim-profile profiles and in combination with C.H.I.C. concealed hinges. This full integration eliminates visible components such as wires, batteries and handles, allowing the window and door to retain a clean and minimalist appearance.
The system operates automatically and silently, adapting to the parameters set by the user or by the building’s home automation system. Configuration is carried out via the Giesse Smart app, which guides installation and commissioning, enabling window and door installers to perform diagnostics and updates even without direct access to the actuator. Thanks to the controlled micro-ventilation function, it helps to improve air exchange, acoustic comfort and the energy efficiency of the rooms.
Technical Specifications
The system comprises:
• Concealed actuator
• Mechanism kit without an incorrect movement safety device
• Removable ‘Aria’ window handle
• Smart Bridge
The actuator is powered by 24 V DC and develops a maximum force of 600 N. It is available in right- and left-hand versions to suit different window and door configurations and is designed for use with a single actuator per window and door. Communication with external systems takes place via a half-duplex RS485 interface, whilst configuration and control can be carried out via the Giesse Smart App and Smart Bridge. The sash opens to 90 ± 5 mm with the T1 arm and 160 ± 10 mm with the T2 arm, at a rated speed of 3.1 mm/s. The device is fitted with a 2 m integrated cable, has an IP20 protection rating and is suitable for use indoors at operating temperatures between -10 °C and +60 °C.
The kit includes the dedicated C.H.I.C. mechanism (without an incorrect movement safety device), the motor engagement pawl, the bypass, cover caps for the hole in the removable window handle and for emergency access to the motor, as well as the fixing components and templates required for installation. The kit must be configured according to the type of opening, the dimensions of the window or door, and the stroke required by the actuator.
The removable window handle echoes the design of the ARIA range and has been developed for use with the actuator in conjunction with the corresponding hardware kit. It is fitted with a 7 mm square pin and forms an integral part of the system for the motorised operation of the window or door.
The Smart Bridge module communicates with the actuator via an RS485 interface in a one-to-one configuration and manages the opening, closing and stop commands. The local connection to the Giesse Smart App is established via Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) technology and allows pairing via QR code, the configuration of stroke distances and intermediate positions, the execution of functional tests, and the viewing of status, events and alarms. The device also supports firmware updates, system log management and the connection of local lugs via dedicated accesses. Finally, the RS485 interface enables integration with external platforms and smart building systems.
