At Schlegel, our employees are our most valuable asset. That is why, for all our plants based in the UK, we have made the decision to pay the Real Living Wage as the starting salary for all of our workers, regardless of their role or level within the organization.

Paying a real living wage rather than UK’s government National Minimum Wage not only benefits our workers themselves, but also helps to create a more stable and productive workforce. Workers who are struggling to make ends meet are more likely to experience stress and insecurity. By providing fair wages, we are helping to alleviate these concerns and create a more positive work environment.

In recognition of our commitment, Schlegel has been officially accredited by the Living Wage Foundation. This organization works to promote the Real Living Wage in the UK, and accredits employers who commit to paying it to their workers.

The accreditation process involves a rigorous assessment of an employer’s pay practices, and is designed to ensure that employers are truly committed to providing fair wages. We are proud to have received this accreditation, which demonstrates our commitment to being a responsible and ethical employer.

We want to prove that it is possible to provide fair wages while remaining profitable, and thus we hope to shift the conversation around the minimum wage and highlight the importance of paying workers a wage that reflects the true cost of living.
